Dale's in Town

Music in background: Franz Ferdinand "You Could Have It So Much Better"

Geez... it's been long time since my last post.

Len was so excited this morning about her latest post ("For the Uneducated Domestic: How to Fold a Shirt in 3 Seconds"), so I just felt compelled to blog something too! I've got admit - the videos were pretty cool, and they really do work. (see www.wonderspeller.blogspot.com for more details)

I was also reading through my old posts. Some of them were a bit embarrassing, but then again it was also good to see bits of my life recorded in my own perspective. Re-reading them was interesting - it sort of allows you to plot the progression of your consciousness. And you look back and you ask yourself, "what was I thinking?!"

So, to business!

RANDOM UPDATES SINCE MY LAST POST:

Update # 1: Dale's In Town
My brother Dale is in town this week, along with his best buddy Delbert (David Ty's brother) and their wingwoman/buddy Claire. The other day we all went to Lau Pa Sat for street food, and took them out yesterday, which was a Friday, to Zouk. Grabe, super boring. Lahat puro college kids (read: Totoy), pero ok lang - at least magkasama kami ni Dale. They both attempted to pick up "chicks", so it was a riot. Fruitless exercise.

While he's in town, my mom has commandeered the both of us to go to Carrefour and buy multiple frozen pizzas (yes... even though my fridge is the size of a matchbox - no idea how we'll manage to preserve it to last 12+ hours until their early morning flight home next Thursday), Nescafe Gold Roast (my influence), and 3-in-1 coffee (decaf, any brand).

The idea is that by doing this, we will save money. Apparently, coffee is cheaper in Singapore than in the Philippines, so every time my mom comes over, she carts off a suitcase full of coffee. Really. Sometimes I think she only visits me whenever she runs down her coffee hoard.

I also need to get Peachtree accounting software, a gift for Dieter (my other brother, who is turning 8 on Nov 10), and her wooden clothes hangers (purchased in IKEA 3 months during my mum's last trip to Singapore - obviously they wouldn't fit in her suitcases since these were already full of coffee). At least her priorities were clear. Go figure.

Yesterday night was good though. Wilfred and Len were at home, as usual, punching each other in front of the TV. Spiderman 1 was on on HBO. Dale was playing the piano - he's quite good. And I was singing along with his playing. It was fun, just like old times. This was pre-Zouk.

It's been a lazy Saturday morning so far. Read magazines, checked email, did 2 loads of laundry (whites & darks), and got my Dell Laptop sorted (the motherboard was busted). Might go to the gym this afternoon. The Dell guy will schedule an appointment with me next week to fix the problem.

I wonder: what shall I do tonight? Our guests will be going to MOM for yet another boring night of Halloween fun. Not my style.

Update # 2: I Have Changed Jobs! =)
That's right! I no longer work for P&G. I sell milk now (temporarily - on secondment until G gets back from maternity leave), then I go work for Claire Koch in IA. I thought I was burned out, but now I am happy. Job satisfaction is high! I am golden! My way is the way of the emperor! I feel appreciated, the workplace is upbeat, optimistic and personal, and the work covers different areas from what I used to do. All in all, quite a good change from the old drumbeat of things. I would never have realized that selling milk was much more personally gratifying vs. selling skincare. Really. I am happy. I can't say that enough.

I also get free yoghurt everyday (comes in 4 flavours: plain, strawberry, peach/apricot, and mixed berry). I am mababaw.
